2011 KUTV Road Trippin’ Promotion

Come join Bacchus (he's back) and the rest of his merry revelers for a great way to celebrate the start of fall, by joining this 25-mile ride through the Colorado’s Wine Country (on paved roads with a few hills). The event is located in the Grand Valley on the Western Slope and gives cyclists an opportunity to pass by the areas wineries, as well as acres of vineyards and fruit orchards.  The Tour de Vineyards is held just prior to the Colorado Mountain Winefest "Festival in the Park" with over 50 of the states winery’s available for your tasting. And, congratulations to our Women riders who make up over 60% of our participants!!!

The Tour de Vineyards is considered an easier ride with one big hill and the rest of the course being rolling to flat. The ride is similar to events like the Elephant Rock, MS 150, or Copper Triangle-it is not a Napa ride with 20 riders and a van to drive you to winery’s and the ride does not stop at each winery as they are busy preparing for that days “Festival in the Park”. An aid station is available at Carlson Vineyards (approximately half way through the course) which features famous "Palisade Peaches" from Talbott Farms. The ride is a great way to get some exercise before wine tasting at the Colorado Mountain Winefest “Festival in the Park”.

The Start & Finish is located in Palisade, CO at Peach Bowl Park (take exit 42 off I-70 and go south less than a mile to 5th and Elberta). The ride begins between the hours of 7-8 am (start at your leisure during this time frame but before 8 am to avoid winefest traffic which begins later in the morning). FREE SHOWERS ARE AVAILABLE at the pool in the park (you bring towels, soap, etc). The Festival in the Park (at Riverbend Park) is only 5 blocks (less than 1 mile) from the start/finish. Shuttle buses will be also be available from Peach Bowl Park for your convenience.
To receive a ticket to the acclaimed wine tasting event, the Colorado Mountain Winefest “Festival in the Park”, please go to www.coloradowinefest.com . You must purchase a ticket for entrance to this great event. Your TOUR entry fee DOES NOT include entry into the festival.
